For the past forty-five years, The University of Nairobi (UoN) has hosted an annual scientific meeting each January, bringing together researchers, students, government officials, donors, and other stakeholders to discuss the latest findings, ongoing projects, and future research priorities. This long-standing tradition has played a vital role in shaping health research and policy in Kenya and beyond.

The 2025 STD/HIV/SRH Collaborative Research Group Annual Review Meeting, held at The Serena hotel from January 27–31, continued this legacy. With a focus on innovative prevention strategies, treatment approaches, and policy-driven solutions for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), HIV, and sexual and reproductive health (SRH), the meeting served as a crucial platform for advancing scientific research and fostering meaningful collaborations. We are honored to have supported this year’s Annual Scientific Review Meeting, reinforcing our commitment to ground-breaking research and collaboration.

The event featured distinguished guests, including Ms. Anne Mahon, the 14th Chancellor, Michael Benarroch, President and Vice-Chancellor and Peter Nickerson, Dean and Vice-Provost (Health Sciences) from the University of Manitoba. Their presence, alongside other esteemed attendees, underscored the significance of collaborative research in addressing pressing health challenges.

We are especially proud that our very own PHDA staff had the opportunity to present both oral and poster sessions at this year’s meeting, showcasing our innovative research and contributing to impactful scientific discussions. This platform allowed us to share key findings, engage with global experts, and highlight our role in advancing health research. The meeting provided a platform for knowledge exchange, strengthening partnerships, and shaping future research priorities. As we look ahead, we remain committed to supporting initiatives that drive impactful scientific discoveries and improve public health outcomes globally.
