PHDA believes in growing together with the communities that we serve. SWOP and TSU have been instrumental in building capacity among the KP and involving the community in the HIV prevention, care and treatment campaign.

As an off shoot of our efforts we have assisted the community register and manage local CBO’s and NGO’s among them Hoymas (http://www.hoymas.or.ke/), Bar Hostess (http://bhesp.org/), SWOP Ambassadors among other. PHDA also supports our Key populations access alternative livelihoods by providing training and supporting income generating activities among the Key population through the SWOP program . The community has also been involved in research, formulating research policies a case of study the ongoing TRUST study (http://www.phdaf.org/new/trust/) and overseeing ethical research among themselves by forming Community Advisory boards.
