Oral HIV testing is a new technology that has great potential for simplifying HIV testing. In February 2016 this project was initiated at four Nairobi sites managed by PHDA to evaluate the utility of oral self-testing and to identify the optimum peer educator to female sex worker ratio for increased uptake of HIV testing and follow- up among female sex workers. Oral self testing and peer ratio phases of the project are underway, with data collection to be finalized by October 2017. Data analysis will begin in October 2017, and initial results should be available by end of December 2017.
